I think play-to-earn is definitely going to be the future of work. People who do not have good earning opportunities in their local area will be able to choose from earning opportunities within different games and virtual worlds in the Metaverse. We have already started to see this with Axie Infinity, but this is only the beginning. Soon we will have all types of jobs available inside virtual worlds that can pay out cryptocurrency that can be exchanged for fiat money.

What was your original intention to create YGG? Was it inspired by other projects? If so, is it AXIE?

It was inspired by the events in the play-to-earn documentary, where ordinary gamers in the Philippines were able to earn an income during the early Covid induced lockdown and earn more money than their former jobs. We realized that providing opportunities for anyone to earn money in the Metaverse without having to pay anything upfront is a noble goal and a real game changer.

Compared to traditional financial investments in stocks and funds or DEFI savings and loans and mining, this way of earning money is not old-fashioned, fun and innovative. But the traditional way of investing money requires learning, reading books for guidance, trial and error on your own, and later summing up a set of investment strategies exclusively for you. And what are your best ways of promoting the rules of the game in terms of science and communication, and how to get more chain users to participate in large numbers? For example, launching different language versions in terms of the game features? Or having up-hosts on video sites to do an introductory lesson? Are there any practical solutions for popularising the rules of the game and getting new people started? There is a lot of interest when it comes to money rewards. But once you look at the game interface, it’s pure English and some people don’t speak English very well and are unfamiliar with the interface, unlike DEFi which has few features and the words are just those, so you can get involved to a great extent.
